Primitivo di Manduria is a DOC from Puglia in the south-eastern corner of Italy. It was introduced in 1974 at the same time as Moscato di Trani and Rosso di Cerignola, the counterparts from northern Puglia. Primitivo di Manduria is one of the oldest of the 15 or so DOCs of Italy's "heel".

Pairing

Grilled meat or a hearty "pasta al forno", but also mature cheeses go well with this classic.

Tasting notes

This wine impresses with a fruity aroma reminiscent of plums and sour cherries, but also brings out notes of ginger and vanilla. The full-bodied and velvety taste make this wine a particularly enjoyable experience.
