Barbicaia
Barbicaia – Roots, Tradition and Passion.
Born on the family estate in Tuscany, Marco Barbi returned to his roots after years as a furniture designer. In the late 1990s, he fundamentally modernised the 2.5-hectare vineyard and waited a decade before producing his first wine under his own name – a wine that perfectly reflects his vision of quality.
The elegant, fragrant Sangiovese wines benefit from the special soils and gentle ageing in untoasted Burgundy barrels. The name "Barbicaia" comes from the local dialect and means "tangle of vine roots" – a symbol of the deep connection to the land and the family tradition from Pienza.
