With the Wine Protector, a protective gas cushion is quickly placed over the wine surface of the opened bottle. A push of a button is enough and part of the air that has penetrated into the emptied volume of the bottle is flushed out, and the protective gas covers the surface of the wine. Because the shielding gas is heavier than air, it cannot rise, effectively preventing contact between wine and air.
