Our single-variety Merlot, named after the striking Podalirio butterfly (also known as the swallowtail), was added to the Querceto di Castellina wine range in 1999. It is a terroir-influenced Merlot that will certainly become even more beautiful with age.
Red, grilled meat, game, cheese.
The aromas of the pure Podalirio are incredibly complex, concentrated, clearly defined and polished. With notes of elderberries and blackberries. On the palate it impresses with its rich and crunchy berry fruit, opens with robust tannins in fine layers and resonates wonderfully.
