In Spain, the grape variety has become popular in recent years under the name Garnacha. The variety came to Sardinia with the Spanish in the 14th century. There she goes by the beautiful name Cannonau. The wines are not very colorful, but very aromatic and pleasantly soft. Spurred on by developments in Spain, Mamuthone is now showing that great wines can also be made from this grape variety in Sardinia.
It goes well with grilled red meats, skewers and medium-ripened cheeses.
Elegant Cannonau in the color of light ruby red with aromas of berries and cherries, fresh and fruity on the palate.
